Welcome wild. I would agree that standing it on end and adding the glass front would be the only way to go for thumbs. There are several ways to cover the glass back and sides. Right now Great stuff foam covered with silicone and moss or coco shavings seem to be the most popular. Myself I have found a nursery that has large rolls of coco fiber that I cut to size and cover the back and sides with. Either is fine. Enjoy your new addiction.
