Negative, your vivarium should be completely sealed to retain humidity and keep fruit flies from getting out since thats dart frogs main diet. A glass lid that opens and closes should be used so no type of bad odor or mildew should be present. There are many substrates that are ideal for dart frogs that do not give off bad odors or cause mildew. Since I myself am pretty new in dart frog keeping I use cocofiber as substrate with a little sphagnum moss on top to keep a viv. thats pretty natural(like a mini earth), it actually gives a pretty pleasant odor in my opinion. This is pretty basic, simple and works for me. Once again good luck and hope this helps.
