I have encountered that myself but it usually only happened when i tried to rush the setup of the tank. I use Mazanita and malaysian driftwood. I will put some pics on how I built my 1st Viv.Has about 5 or 6 pieces of Malaysian DW and its holding up great. One thing that comes to mind that would cause GS to detach itself would be a dirty surface and/or bad silicone job. Like I said I have had this happen to me and did the same thing to fix the problem as Knox did.

Here is my 1st viv i made awhile back, In it I have 8 pieces of DW and 4 water features.
