I went to feed my frogs this morning and I saw a considerable ruckus in my Tarapota imitator tank. I have never seen a wrestling match so violent. Its was two females going ballistic! I managed to grab my camera and pop a flick. There was a group of 4 frogs in the 29 gal tank, all believed to be females. Only because there was never any calling observed. I did a pretty thorough search a few days ago when I only found 3 frogs, and one of them looked very stressed. I removed the frog and put alone. A few days later it died. The other two were damn there killing each other this morning. I know what I did, but if you saw this, what would you do? Keep them together separate them, or add a male?
Below is the pic I quickly snapped. (Sorry for the poor quality) ![]() Marc Added a poll, what do you think?

I am sorry to hear about your frog that died
.Having a frog die is always a bummer. You say you had females in a 29g??I think that right there is your problem. You may be able to have 2 females together , but they would need allot of room(not a 29g) and their own nesting sites. Females more than males tend to fight consistently until the other dies from stress or from drowning. I have seen a female Azureus almost drown another female. They were fighting in a little pond and the other that was submitting was almost completely submerged under the water. Housing females in the same tank can and most likely will end up in tragedy. I would separate all females.

I'm sorry for your lost and I know that it sucks when one of your gals die. I was actually going to suggest seperating them and also adding a male to each one. Also to add I think maybe there might be a male in there females usually fight like that when they are competing against each other. Good luck with the progress keep us posted Marc.

My imis usually do good in groups. In the adjacent tanks I have my intermedius, yuris and std imis. All have 1.2 ratio. The tank with the taras was the only tank with all females. They were fine for weeks, or so I thought. They have been getting abused. I have never seen any of my imis fight, especially as violent as that . The tank is very heavily planted and they look all innocent when I open the tank for feeding. If that is what has been going on, I see why I lost two frogs. I think the absence of the male is what did them in. I have sen that in leucs and tincs, but never imis.
Separated! Marc

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!
Today I saw the third female in the tank! WooHoo, there is three fat female tarapota imis. I still lost the one that was stressed, but the 3rd looks awesome. All three are fat and happy, whestling around like crazy. Now I plan to offer a trade for a male. Marc (Where the heel was she hiding)
