Default drainage

Im in the process of building my last and perfect viv my previous vivs overtime get to full of water and the false bottom dont work i had no way to drain it. my plan was to go to a glass cutter an have a hole put in the side. can you guy put pics of how you are draining ur tanks.

Ok here is what I do: I use a dremel tool with a diamond tipped bit. I use these fittings to come out of the viv to drain:
Carlon at Lowe's: 3/4" Straight Carflex Liquid-Tight Fitting

I cut a hole just big enough to fit the fitting into the viv. Then I attach tubing to run into a 5g bucket.

Me, I've always used a turkey baster. I either make a pond or put something like a piece of pvc through the false bottom and cover the top so frogs don't get in there. I'll try to get a better pic leter if you want but this is what I'm talking about...


My drain point is in the front left corner (black vertical pipe) and covered by a piece of slate rock. If I have to drain I move the rock and stick a turkey baster down there to suck up the water. Plus it kinda blends in.

thank you guys you helped me out alot I was stressing about it. i just dont want to messup my new viv just bought it 18 by 18 by 24 exo terra tank. hey one more thing the background that it comes with would you recomend using it or making a new one

That is totally up to you. I wouldn't use it because I like the look of more natural backgrounds.
