Default Building a pond/waterfall

Besides using a pump can canister filters be used as well to move the water?
Is there a way to slow the water pressure comming out so its not too fast of a current?

Not to bust your bubble but I think you shouldn't include a waterfall until you have the other things down pack. Frogs don't need a water feature ever it for cosmetic purposes some say it adds humidty but you can mist your tanks too.... It's not complicated it's just that figure out what your blueprint is and go from there.

I know they arent needed. its more for looks and show. Right now I am in the planning stage of what I would want in the tank, where to place them, Which things are a must, which things I can go without. then once I get my info on everything and look on paper at it all I can make decisions on what to include before I start building.

Me personally i like to check out other peoples Viv's and pick out things from them and put it together. Also for the pump, make sure you get the right one.The pumps i like to use are the ones that suck water form the bottom. These allow you to decide how much water you want in your pond. Some pumps suck water from the sides and others from the bottom. Also be sure to make access to your pump. I know a guy who didnt and now he has a waterfall thats a dry waterfall.Anways GL and post some pics!

I would be using a canister filter to move the water so I wouldnt have to worry about having access to it.Just would have to make room for the tubing to go in and out of.

I have seen it successfully done with a canister filter. But, like Ed said (hey I made a rhyme) I would wait. It is def more along the line of want vs needs. I have a 75 gal corner tank that I plan to make soon, and I want a water fall in it. I plan to use a canister. I am going to install a simple ball valve in the return to control the flow. I plan to drill holes in the bottom of the tankt then let the water drain into a reservoir under the tank, and pump it back into the tank. I have done it before with my 120 show tank.

I would have to say when i built my waterfall feture i wasnt that experienced with it. I didnt have an exturnal pump and filter like Knoxter menchend. Being my first tank i thought it was good. I had bought one of the exo waterfalls and placed it on the top of my false bottom in my tank. I had the pump come down underneth the false bottom and pump the water that sites at the bottom. I have to clean the pump becouse mine gets extremly cloged. i also dont want to be rude but i would have to agree with socaled only becouse there a pain in the butt.

If you really must have a water have at least enough room to move things around that way you won't be frustrated later... Good luck
