Default Building a background

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums and I come baring a question. I'm not new to dart frogs although I'm still a beginner. I had some Reticulated Aratus for awhile as well as some Tricolor but to be perfectly honest I had no idea what I was doing in regards to terrarium design. I must of done something right as they were fairly happy and all that. I lost them though I moved across the country. They survived the shipping but the moving company was a few weeks late dropping off my stuff and so I didn't have proper set-ups for them and they didn't make it.

Anyway enough about that. I'm thinking about getting back into them and had a few questions regarding making a background. I've read tons and tons and different guides and all seem to follow the same basic principle: Great stuff, silicone, coco fiber, and sometimes styrofoam insulation. My first question is in regards to the coco fiber. I know through personal experience and research that coco fiber is a breeding ground for a certain type of tropical mite. Snake tanks often get infested with them as well as other insects, and I'm talking about tanks with no live plants and such. Now all this is relating to when you use coco fiber as your main substrate but I was wondering if anyone has had them infest a background with coco fiber on it? I was also wondering why coco fiber seems to be the preferred substrate for covering these backgrounds. Could one use sphagnum moss or something else instead? I'm sure I'm just being paranoid but it's a royal pain to tear down a tank and bleach the whole thing to get rid of them.

I was also thinking, as I don't like the idea of just spraying the stuff right on the glass, has anyone tried using something like Plexiglas as a kind of backboard for the background? I have tons of the stuff in my basement and I just like the idea of being able to take the background out should I ever need to.

I think that's about all the questions I have for the time being.

Thank you to everyone for reading this and lending your expert opinions;

Geoff

However, more and more women are now turning to breast enlargement pills as a way of enlarging and enhancing their breasts. Breast enlargement pills can help women to enhance their breasts and gain breast size without resorting to synthetic hormones and risky, invasive surgery.
