Putting males in one tank is ok but are you getting 100% males because it seems as though you already picked out the males which can be pretty hard even when they are mature. To answer your second question about having 3 in a 12X12X24 that would be NO... Reason being is that the tank dimension you gave is good for thumbs like imis or lamasi's. Now if the dimension were 24X12X12 then that would be better. Remember its LXWXH so the first dimension is good for thumbs. Make it easier on your self just find a 20 gallon on craigslist and you'll be fine. As far as leaf litter Socalsam is selling some pretty cheap for $4 for a good amount. Good Luck and keep asking questions when ever you need.

Well lets start off with, Are you new to the PDF Hobby? If so then Do some research on these forums on Hybridization. I am not trying to say thats what you are trying to do, but trying to point you in the right direction. Anywho, I have never mixed before(other than when Froglets) so i am not sure if something could happen, but i would think if they where both males then maybe it would be OK. Writing this i have the movie Jurassic Park in my head. There is a part in the 1st movie when Jeff Goldblum makes a comment about Frogs changing sex in a single sexed environment. Lol I am not sure if thats true but its in my head.

I'd have to agree with the two posters before me; I would say it's probably not a great idea. I've had 2 D. Auratus (terquoise and bronze) for about a year, and they were about 9 months old when I received them, and I still cannot decipher their sex. Unfortunately, it's just not as easy as that. Unless you are absolutely positive, I would stick with the same morph in 1 tank.
And a note on the tank size: auratus (or at least mine) tend to be almost completely ground-dwelling. While occasionally they will climb around a little bit, they are on the ground much more frequently. So, like mentioned above, you'd do well to find a tank that was horizontally oriented; a 20 gallon would be a great start, and isn't outrageously priced either. Hope that helps; good luck! |

The different morphs would get along fine although floor space is still a consideration with multiple frogs. The issue you bring up is possibly introducing a female of one morph with a male of another morph and creating mixed morph hybrid babies. And that being said, it is very hard to sex frogs with 100% certainty unless they have actually produced offspring. My suggestion would be to just stick to one morph and not have to worry about it.
