Default PDF Nutrients

I wanted to make this thread to see what other people are using in means of what they dust their feeder insects with.I dust mine with the most famous Rep-Cal Phosphorus free Ultra fine powder Calcium with Vit.D3, Rep-Cal Herptivite(with Beta Carotene) and i use Repashy Calcium plus ICB. I Dust my Feeders every other day. Take both amounts of the Calcium and Herptivite(50/50) and shake it with the feeders. I also wanna say when you dust, make sure to remove any remaining calcium or vits before you feed.If you don't it will fall on your substrate and for one look bad and for two it will grow mold in that area or kill any moss growing in feeding area. Best thing to do is get a designated brazil nut pod or some other pod and make it your "Dump Zone". This will allow you to keep mold and unwanted wastes building up in your viv, and it keeps your tank looking clean, beautiful, and natural. As for the Repashy i dust once an month. I got this from a guy and he has been into PDF's for over 15 years. I will post its nutritional Value soon. Anways , What do you dust with!?

Here is the Nutritional Value for Repahsy:

"Insect Balancer" The "all in one" Insect dust that provides all essential vits and Mins.

Analysis:

Crude protein, min. 25%-crude fat, min. Crude Fiber. Max 3%-moisture. Max 8% ash. Max 8%-Calcium. Min 14%-Calcium. Max 16%-Phosphorus(p). Max 1% Vitamin D-3. Min 20,000 IU/Kilo. Vitamin A 80,000 IU/Kilo

Calcium Plus ICB is to increase the nutritional value of feeder insects. This combination transformes insects into a food item that has a calcium/phosphorus ratio with optimal levels. It also provides increase in protein and a source of all natural essential vitamins and minerals and trace minerals.

I use Dendrocare and Rep-Cal for my supplements. I dust with Dendrocare at every feeding and use Rep-Cal calcium at every third feeding. You can get Dendrocare at Black Jungle Terrarium Supply. One can't over emphasize how important it is to supplement your feeding

My 2 cents

Marc

I use Dendrocare too. I use the Dendrocare faithfully, but I have to admit, I do not use the calcium as much as I should.

Just like to mention that using DendroCare by itself with certain species of amphibians has suspected to cause seizures. Although testing and issues have not yet been resolved alternating supplementation is best. I personally feed over other day and I alternate supplements every time I feed. I also try to gut load (not calcium gut loading) every insect if it is possible, but that is another issue altogether.

Also to remember that the dates on the bottle are for shelf life dates and not supplementation expiration dates. Once the vitamins have been open it is a general rule to buy new vitamins in 6 or so months. I just learned that a few months ago.
