Are computer fans necessary to ciculate the viv? Im setting up a 45 gallon hex false bottom closed enclosure. But if installing computers for circulation and ventilation is a benefit then I will go ahead and attach them.
Thanks Dale

I don't use them at all. They only time I will be is if I have a tank that is over 90gallons and fully stocked with plants. They are not necessary but sometimes good to have on hand when you need them.

I say the computer fans are good for defogging the front glass. Also it does mimic the breeze in the rainforest. You can set timers to them and have them on at certain times. The only thing I dont want to deal with is the DC to AC...

When you mention "circulation and ventilation" your talking about two different issues. You can can have either or both.
Circulation is useful to the overall well being of the vivarium; for the plants and animals Circulating the air in the tank prevents the air within the tank from becoming stagnant. You can circulate the air in the tank without introducing fresh air into the tank. Ventilation will introduce new air into the tank. Depending on the amount of humidity in the room where your tank is located, too much ventilation may cause it to dry out. A possible solution is to add a misting system. Marc

Well I have always thought having some ventalition on top of the viv is a good thing? Im planning on having my glass top cut this week but not sure if I should have them cut a couple holes on top so I can do some ventaltion holes?

Actually, IMO circulation is more important than ventilation. As long as you open your tanks every few days to feed your frogs, that allows more than enough fresh air into the tank. Your better off using the fans to circulate the air already in the tank. Maybe put the fan in a chamber and circulate the air out one hole and back into the tank thru the other hole. Just my 2 cents.
