Default Hello

Hi All,
My name is Ben and I'm a dart frogger from the Chicagoland area. I've been interested in frogs all my life, but have only been keeping frogs more recently (~2 years, give or take). I just recently found this forum, although I've been on some of the others for a while. Currently, my modest collection only includes 3 different frog species, although I'm looking to expand my collection (slowly -- although it is addicting, so it may be hard to regulate the speed LOL).

I'm not sure what else to put here, so I guess I'll just do a little shameless self-promotion. I just recently graduated college with a degree in Interactive Arts & Media. What that means is I like to do graphic and web design (and game design!). In fact, should you need some graphic or web design work done, I would probably be willing to work for frogs/supplies (or reasonable financial compensation of course!), so don't hesitate to PM me. Outside of frogs and design, I really enjoy sports, both playing and watching, but mostly playing.

I guess that's it for now.

Thanks!
-Ben

Hi Ben,

Please believe me when I say.....this hobby is the PERFECT place to advertise and get web page work. ALL the big movers and shakers need designs ect.

Can you do things like shopping carts and that kind of stuff?

Hi Philsuma,
That is great news for me, haha! I haven't done any specific work with shopping carts, however my understanding is that the majority of them are 3rd party applications, and most of the work involved with them is implementation and styling which shouldn't be an issue. Also, I have a friend who has some experience and could show me the ropes, plus I'm always looking to expand my skill set.

Actually, just recently, I created a dart themed site design, that could be pretty easily translated into a shopping cart theme (or so I was told). Here are 2 images to give you an idea:

Example Home Page
Example Species Page

As of right now, this only exists as a couple photoshop documents, but I'm looking for an excuse to actually program it, so if anyone's interested, let me know!

disclaimer: all images were created by me, with the exception of the reticulatus image which is a comp. copy from istockphoto, and the exo terra image which is a placeholder I borrowed from their site, and the camera image which is free to use.

Ben....that is really really good!

Be sure to be active and plug your work.....google and research the various big breeders and sellers.

They will absolultely need help with web design and if you are well versed in the hobby.....more the better.

Good looking stuff!

Phil

Pretty awesome. Nice to see we have new members coming in that have great knowledge in other areas outside of frogs. LOL I do a lot of graphics work for others, I am too lazy to do it for myself. Love the avatar and Welcome to the board!

Phil, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

atlfrog (sorry, I didn't see your real name), I appreciate the welcome, I feel so at home haha! I found a great shot of a Summersi, and decided to use it to try to create a sort of illustrated icon with it, and my avatar is the result; I'm glad you like it. What kind of graphic stuff do you do? I'd love to see it.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Hi Sam, thanks for the welcome! I currently am working with D. Auratus (turquoise and bronze), R. Ventrimaculatus (grey leg) and R. Vanzolinii. I'm considering expanding my collection a bit with either more thumbs or some pumilio. Right now retics have really caught my eye, but we'll see... it always seems like as soon as I decide to hunt for a specific species a different and equally beautiful one becomes available, so it's sometimes hard to predict what you end up with, you know? Haha.

Ya I know exactly what you mean. So you have some Vanzolinii's?! I wouldn't mind getting some of those guys. I really like their pattern and colors. Well its good to have you aboard. Make an Album so we can check out your frogs and Viv's.

Sam

I have been doing graphics work on and off since Photoshop came out. I am no professional but I love learning as much as I can. I have an associate's degree in Computer Art and was focusing on a Pre-vet major before coming down here, but changed all of that when my children were born. Time is of the essence if you know what I mean. Wow that makes me feel old, and I am only 30. LOL But anyway, I belong to a Star Trek RPG site where we use celebrities as our character profiles. Some on that site I made are good, some bad, but it's all hit or miss anyway. I just wished I had more time to create the background myself but he needed it done ASAP and I just started class again so I put this together for him. There is a white border around the image as the site being used on is black. Well, Hope you like it. I do a lot of other stuff as well but I am a perfectionist so it's never complete. LOL

Funny I saw this awhile back. I guess our paths had crossed through vast internet. lol Very cool!
