My name is James and I am new to the hobby, I am in the process of setuping my first tank. It is a 55 gal that I want to setup for blue dart frogs. I will have alot of questions from time to time. I am taking pics as I go and will post them when I am done. What part of the forum should I ask my questions in or does it matter. Here is my first question, how many Blue frogs can I put in this tank? I think from what I have read is about 6 to 8 if I give them plenty of hiding places. My picture is of my little 175 lb dog he just turn 1 year old and his name is kelso.

Wuz up James! Welcome to DFF I like 2 greet often because I was made felt welcome when I started here. I had many questions when I started out in the hobby and was helped here to start and to find my dart frogs. Hope it works out for U as well. Maybe with the little knowledge I have I will be able to assist others or U as well.
James U are correct though, 6-8 dart frogs is good for a 55 gal. recommended they be the same species of Darts. I learned that as a rule of thumb for it to be 1 frog for every 5 gal. Peace and happy Dartfroggin! |

Hi James,
I would very much depend on exactly which 'blue' frogs you are talking about, what ages, and what sexes. Adult groups of certain species do fine with one male and several females. Some only like one male and one female. Ect. Five gallons per frog used to be considered a rule of thumb. But it is not now. Go as big as you can. A ten gallon tank is way undersized BTW for say a blue Azureus dart. I'd say you need to determine which section is relevant. I doubt anyone will beat you up too bad if it is not 100% dead on. My advise is utilize the 'search' function. Read tons and you'll probably find answers to many of your questions without even having to ask. Welcome. Rich
